Cardwell Golf Club 2021 Presentation Dinner
On Saturday 20th November the 2021 Cardwell Golf Club Annual Presentation Dinner was held in the Bunker at the Cardwell Country Club. It was catered by Steve Bain and his staff in the CCC Kitchen. Everyone agreed that the dinner was most enjoyable.
It was a very social occasion and a chance to catch up in a setting other than golf. We all scrubbed up rather well!! Club President Kev Martin welcomed everyone and Sneza Lazarus was MC for the evening.
The main event of the evening was the Presentation of various achievements by players for 2021. Kev
Ladies’ Captain Jackie Olditch kicked off the proceedings by sharing some of the Ladies’ successes. She told the gathering that the Ladies had acquitted themselves well in the Ladies’ Pennants but were unsuccessful in bringing home the top prize. She also told the audience that Christine Taylor was the 2021 Eclectic winner, Mandy Carucci was the top putter of the year and had an outstanding 21 putts in one of the 18 hole rounds, Anne Jodrell had the most chip-ins with 22 for the year.
Marina Hoare sponsored the 2021 ‘A’ Grade Birdies for the year with Sneza Lazarus taking the honours with 24 for the year. Marina also generously provided prizes for the ladies who managed to get into double figures with birdies, Christine Taylor with 14 and Jackie Olditch with 13. Sneza Lazarus provided prizes for the ‘B’ Grade birdies taken by Angela Dearlove with 4 and the ‘C’ grade birdies Arlie Robinson with 2.
The 2021 Championships and Best scores and Most Improved for the year were once again generously sponsored Craig and Ellen May Teitzel’s Tully IGA.
Ellen May Teitzel presented the ladies with their prizes.
Ladies’ Overall Champion and ‘A’ Grade Champion was Sneza Lazarus with a score of 359.
Ladies’ ‘B’ Grade Champion was Jackie Olditch 375 and Ladies’ ‘C’ Grade Champion was Anne Jodrell 435. Overall Ladies’ Nett went to Kass Marshall with 290 Nett.
The Ladies’ Best Score for the year Nov 2020 to Nov 2021 was posted on the 23rd October by Mandy Carucci with 44 stableford points equating to a 63 nett. The Most improved lady was Sneza Lazarus who moved from GA 15.0 in Nov 2020 to 10.9 in November 2021 an improvement of 27%.
Cardwell Golf Club Men’s Captain Peter Topen began by telling the gathering that the 2021 Greg Smith Australia Post sponsored Medal of Medals winners were Rod Rackley with Nett 73 for the Men and Jackie Olditch Nett 78 for the Ladies and the John Guyatt Memorial Trophy was taken by Andrew Green with a Nett 70. The Men’s 2021 Eclectic had a close result with Terry Moss prevailing in the end. The 2021 Match Play finalists were Peter Topen and Kev Martin with Peter Topen taking the honours.
Craig Teitzel gave out the prizes for the Men’s Championships.
Overall and ‘A’ Grade Champion Phil Pentecost with 328 points. The ‘B’ Grade Champion was Greg Smith 334, the ‘C’ Grade Champion Kev Martin (352) and the ‘D’ Grade Champion was Alan Chellingworth (368). The ‘B’ Grade Nett winner was Paul Harry 298 Nett and the ‘C’ Grade Nett winner was Geoff Reading with 291 Nett.
The Men’s best score for the year Nov 2020 to Nov 2021 was 45 stableford points equating to a nett of 62 scored by Reg Wright on the 12th December 2020.
The best gross score by a member was gross 70 scored by Rod Rackley on 2nd October and the best gross score on the course was 68 posted by Scott Gillespie on the 3r July off the blue tees.
The most improved male was Ian Brooks who dropped from GA 27.2 to 18.9 an improvement of 31%. A special mention for Alan Chellingworth who dropped 6 strokes to a GA of 21.
